100 Poems From The Mountain
Working on getting this book into print before I leave the mountain
I’ve sat out the pandemic here on my mountain. This is coming to an end and they’ll be new adventures.
But I’m working hard to edit my poems and notes before I leave. Most days last year, me and the dogs would head out up the mountain, then down. I’d get home and sit and write some thoughts. The book is a collection of them, inspired by Kenneth Rexroth’s own translations of poems from the Chinese.
Stay tuned.
The Way
There are many paths
up the mountain.
One through a creaking
forest of bamboo.
Another along a gurgling
proud stream.
Another lined with stone crosses.
On top of the mountain
only one destination,
a sky that has abandoned
the way.
Summer Day
So much to do!
Fences to mend.
Wood to chop.
Got to weed the garden.
There’s gas to buy for the generator.
Outside my kitchen window
the banana fronds wave
and laugh at me.
