Animal Crackers
Some short "ditties" after walking the dog around the local museum park.
I made this video, short bursts of song about animals, after walking my dog around the local museum of Natural History. See this earlier post of a first version of these poems I called “Animal Crackers”, a tribute to Dr. Seuss.
I walk our dog, Viernes, every morning (Friday - because we found her as a puppy on a Friday, starving on the street, outside our house gate in Guatemala). It allows me to slow down, take in the mountain, the river, the ocean (yes, lucky, it is all at our doorstep) and just be at peace with the world. We are both getting long in the tooth and its a great way to start the day. Map here.
This is the highest peak on the mountain between us and the river/ocean. The museum is down below there somewhere.
But on our usual route, we walk through the frontal gardens of the museum where there are life-like sculptures of animals. Almost like Night At The Zoo. They often seemingly come to life for me, these frozen charactures. And so, animal crackers was born.
Here are a few others I’ve collected, using the pictures of the animals outside the museum.
Ok, I’ll stop. I could go on forever. One last one, Viernes rolling in the grass among the animals. Anyone know why dogs like to roll in some places with scent? She does the same thing, each walk, outside this museum.
