Children And War

A remix I created using a book of pictures drawn by children and introduced by Aldous Huxley.

“The first casualty of war is not the truth, rather the innocence of our own heart. And with that casualty, the defiling of our children’s future and dreams.” - D. Deubelbeiss

I once was the Executive Director of a large children’s foundation in Canada - For The Love Of Kids. Along with my teaching, it was central to my being, my beliefs. That our purpose as adults here and now is as caretakers of children. Not just your own, but all children.

Perhaps I should return to that role, I just might. For in this crazy, bat shit crazy world we live in - so many children have not a fighting chance. This ongoing and present “war” on children speaks volumes about the violent, murderous times we live in.

By the time I’ve finished writing this, a child has NEEDLESSLY died in Gaza. Think about that. And too how scarred for life, all Gazan children now are.

One might innocently ask, “Why so many deaths of children in Gaza?” And one might logically answer, “Because the population is young, consists mostly of children.” While there might be some truth to that, it is not the full picture.

Operation Protective Edge 2014 - Gazan Child’s Drawing - Khuzaa.

The Israeli genocide is aimed directly AT children. Forget Hamas. It’s why families have been enmass targeted. Why hospitals, so important to the health of children have all been destroyed. The evil generals of the inhuman Israeli military AI machine know programmically that children are the future of Palestine - so they must start there in their attempt to erase Palestinians from the land.

It’s that simple. They learned from the communists who in education always said, “Get them young”.

It can be stopped, the murder. We should be doing all we can to stop it. But alas, its money before the lives of children. That’s the bottom line here, ladies and gentlemen.

I hope the words of Aldous Huxley speak to some of you out there. I remixed his public domain book from 1938, where he presented pictures drawn by children who had suffered immensely in the Spanish Civil War. His commentary, like his mind, is clear, eurdite and worth a listen.

I interspersed the pictures that I painstakingly refreshed and restored, with those of Palestinian children who as like then, now face and suffer at the hands of evil adults.

These works of art by Palestinian children were taken down at a London hospital. Said to be “uncomforting” to others.

The video is dedicated to all the children that suffer from war. My own way of shedding some light on this tragedy but also my own way of saying,

“Sorry. We know better but don’t help ourselves, us beasts.”
