“Defeated, I shall win.” Czeslaw Milosz
Learning To Lose
I always won. Always.
Even when I had lost
I found some way
to fudge it
so I had won.
I was an expert of
excuses.
I always found a way
to the top
of the heap.
I was pushing up a hill
a boulder
I could never beat.
So, I gave up that fight.
I stopped struggling with
that boulder and I
gave up listening for applause.
Now that I have learned
to lose,
I cannot be beat.
My race is now one.
Your race is now one?
Losing/accepting is a way of not constantly desiring an outcome, whichcan be exhausting...
