Naked & Alive
The art of being alive is something we don't have to work at. We just have to take off all the dressing we have on and allow others to eat us raw.
"You cannot cheat anything at all: You have to live your life fully and openly and give it everything you have--and even a few things you don't have. Emotionally, I think it is good to live in perpetual debt. Load up the love and get in deep with favors given over to others. That is an honorable debt. You have to give everything you have to your work, to your children, to your friends. I think, like [George Bernard] Shaw wrote so beautifully, that we need to end our lives used up. Abuse is not good; it is not wise. I have been abusive: I have not always taken care of myself. But I have lived and loved fully, and anything good I have done or accomplished is due to those two things I did with force and gratitude." --Colleen Dewhurst, Interview with James Grissom, 1989
Naked and alive
here and now
the swelling of life
is swell
the smell of life
is as well.
Naked and alive
foot on the pedal
hand on the wheel
going far
destination unknown
in view
all is shown.
Naked and alive
pins and needles
I’m here each day
discovering what
might happen
or not happen
I hear the sounds of
life lapping.
Naked and alive
in beauty’s arms
I’m warm and true
no expectations
just the tickle of
the newer new.
Naked and alive.
this moment a bell
that knocks me about
and I swell
with all the necessity
of a lover of fate
a man
here and now
for which nothing
can be late.
