Special and Not Special
Two contradictory stances that both are correct. Two opposites can both be true, quantum physics tells us so.
I do not know how much value I have in this universe, but I do know that I have made a few people happier than they would have been without me! As long as I know that, I am as rich as I ever need to be. (R. Williams "Mork and Mindy" 1978)
I was going through my Naked and Alive YouTube channel. It’s a mess. Like my other channel ELT Buzz English. Both, all over the place. So much different stuff, but hey, the universe IS so diverse. Lesson? I’ll never be a YouTuber - you can’t stuff a squirming squirrel into a tent bag.
The algorithm wants order. It has rules, a narrow path. It wants a slice of shade of color on the spectrum - when a true man, woman, being should want all the colors of our fine rainbow, of the time we got here. N’est pas?
Anyway - I digress. Do I contradict myself? Very well, I contradict myself. I am large, I contain multitudes.
While doing my digital housecleaning, came upon these two poems. Both statements of fact really. Testimony to the court of humankind. They seem on the surface contradictory but really they aren’t.
You are special and you aren’t special. We just don’t have a word for this two things at once (and so many more interbinaries).
I won’t explain “the joke” but enjoy if you think you’re special and especially if you think you aren’t.
And of course, my favorite book, I turn to often to sense I’m special or not.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.”- King Solomon (maybe) Ecclesiastes
