The Weight

There is something heavy about existence, how existence is lived by so many ... why so? What's pulling at us and keeping us tethered?

A couple things pulled from one of my notebooks. I brought just a few with me to Korea and every now and then, flip through them wondering about the man I was and how it connects to the man I am.

People live in a perpetual state of ignorance. Why?
They believe the world as they know it, is the world as it is.

“What if it doesn’t matter? Doesn’t matter at all? Go left? Go right? If we walk through life that is not our own doing or undoing? Who’s pulling who? What if it doesn’t matter, if there is free will or no free will and that in the strangeness of this unknown world, we decide and don’t decide on, hope melts like an ice cream cone left in the sink of time? What if it doesn’t matter at all?”

Note Left On The Floor

After a while
it’s all a gift
icing on the cake,
money stumbled across
in old pant pockets.

It’s all extra
until it ain’t
but at least then,
in the knowledge
you’ve done and
been done to enough,
there’s little problem
pulling the plug
’n watching the water
drain away
from god knows where to
god knows where,
and it’s over,
the coyote’s got the Road Runner
in his jaws,
it’s over
this recording we’re making
until, after a while
a button is pushed and
a new recording
is laid over top
the previous.

Nature wastes not.

Just my poetry. Raw, naked, served cold like poetry should be (so you can warm it up)
