There is an elephant in the room

Many want this poor guy to just stay in the room. Muddy waters grow big fish.

There is an elephant in the room
and it wants to get out.

He’s a timid guy so not many ever
notice him
despite all the evidence right there
before our eyes,
the scats, the huge saliva droplets, the odd soft trumpeting.

The room is busy and loud with people rushing
back and forth, chattering and try to
save the world and
make a name for themselves.
Perhaps that is why nobody is aware
there is an elphant in the room.

I tried to take him out of there.
But every time I open the door
there are odd types milling about
and they look like they’d enjoy
shooting him
even though
he’s pink
and like I said, very timid.

I asked him one day,
”Aren’t you frustrated and want to
get the hell out of here -
stroll on the savannah, hang out with your own kind?
He replied, “Of course but

There’s an elephant in the room
and he wants to get out.
But what then would we have
to rant and rave and talk about?
What then would we use
as cover for our ruinous actions
and hate for each other?

There is an elephant in the room.
but nobody wants to let him out.

Perhaps, there is a reason …
