What They Didn’t Tell You
They told you
your neighbor
could kill you,
with one cough,
one breath,
They told you
that you
could kill your neighbor
with one cough,
one breath,
if you didn’t
get the jab and
do as they say.
They told you
those who refuse
were even more likely
with one cough,
one breath,
one look -
kill you.
They told you
it would
all end
if only
absolutely everyone
obeyed.
And so, you did.
You took one
for the team
to show
you were a team player,
virtuous, clean
a good citizen,
a patriot.
Now,
in the never-ending
war
against the invisible,
you wonder,
you wonder,
what they didn’t tell you.
Bravo. Excellent poem.
I sometimes wonder what they didn't tell us. And i sometimes keep thinking of George Orwell's books "1984" and "Animal Farm".
