One thing I’ve always loved - going straight to the source and hearing from the bone and marrow of any problem.
The homeless, the left out of society - can’t go wrong with Invisible People. Want to get to know REAL America? Can’t go wrong with David Lynch’s Interview Project. Want to learn about how people around the world think about a range of topics, from love to the meaning of life ? Can’t go wrong with Arthus-Bertrand’s 7 Billion Others.
These days, I’ve been fascinated by our Canadian Truckers. Watching hours and hours of their videos - straight from their truck cabs. Skipping all the commentary from both sides, skipping the lying mainstream media and going straight to the street and hearing their own voices. Try Zot for a one-shop stop of truckers’ voices. Or this fine piece of journalism from an Ottawa resident.
So here are a few I’ve collected and want to share with you.
The Hungarian - Romanian. He was out there when Ceaușescu fell. He knows how to take down a dictator and knows how out of touch rulers can become, oblivious to the needs, desires, emotions and ideas of their countrymen, women. He made me cry. Like him or hate him, he speaks from HIS heart.
Alberta Tim. Regularly special. Start at 7:30 and listen to Tim’s common sense. He puts it straight. There was a deal. We get vaccinated and this all ends. Yet, it didn’t and he wants politicians to keep to their deal. He’s special.
Pat “hold the frickin’ line” King. He tells you how it is on the front lines and how the powers that be screw with regular people fighting for their rights, legally, respectfully. His enthusiasm and spirit is contagious.
Perfect Peter. Peter drives a fire truck. He speaks about how he has stood up and said “Enough.” and he articulates so well, the reasons why mandates are just evil and not what Canada should ever consider. I’d be honored to be his friend. A hero.
