I feel like Boswell, in Corsica, meeting Napoleon and crying out loud on seeing the “emperor” - “Now, there goes a man!”
Now, I’m exaggerating but I just have to share this man, the genius of YouTube just introduced me to. I’m in love. I mean it, in love. Please watch. Your soul will be warmed, you will be better for it. He secretes and says much better than myself, what my whole being wishes to profess. Here is one prior thought I also had on this topic.
He says so much of where my head, body, soul is at, at this moment. I’ve sold most everything. Given my wife the lot. Just me, who I am and my dedication to my insistence to now live who I’ve always been, a man, a poet, a thinker. I owe no one, no one owes me a thing. I don’t have a ledger sheet. I dedicated myself to the life of being who I want to be, damn it all, my 60th birthday. I also, have written about how we need to be, not have.
It’s where I’m at right now. Light as the wind, necessary as the wind.
Ubuntu - I am me, because of others
Yes, I still get tickled and enticed by the spotlights and the adulation and the false need to be acknowledged. I agreed to a lecture tour recently, I’m now rethinking that May tour. I need to be who I am and stop thinking of the applause, THEIR laws.
Dr. Seuss, oh I so love that man, and it’s in the video too!
“Always say what you mean and mean what you say. Because those who mind, don’t matter. And those who matter, don’t mind.” - Dr. Seuss.
And alas, another video to end. Full of truth, what is so and most important about life. It’s not about us, our needs, what we agree or don’t agree to. Most important is the fact that we are needed - that is why we are here, alive. We are needed. Find people, animals, anything that needs you and your problem of existence is solved. I gave the send off speech to graduates at the grad school I once taught at, with that thought. Read it if you wish but more importantly listen to this rabbi, Rabbi Friedman and of course, the beautiful South African soul and his donkeys - now, there goes a man!
P.S. This is what I wrote as a comment on the video on YouTube.
"The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne." - Chaucer. So honored to have heard this man's words, wisdom and commitment to essence. He speaks about how life can change on a dime once we realize that we don't NEED but what we do need is to be NEEDED. That is why we are here, to contribute. If there is any god, it is a god that needs us. WE are necessary and needed, just as we are, without all our stuff.
To Exist
It's not how fast you go
It's that you go
It's not how well you sing
It's that you sing
It's not how strong you love
It's that you love
It's not how much you give
It's that you give
It's not how long you live
It's that you live
It's not how pretty you are
It's that you are
It's not how well you write
It's that you write
Right?
