It is interesting to revisit and reread the writers you loved in your youth. I’ve been doing so with Ray Bradbury and finding even more “juice” and sustenance than when a young boy, reading the same.
I’ve put together this series of quotes of Ray Bradbury. His words still speak a practical wisdom and command - the themes of Bradbury so timely today; the dangers of technology, the need for self-education, the job of a writer, the quest for happiness in a world that wishes to control your desires for her own ends …
I’ve also been busy on my educational channel, producing audiobooks of some of Bradbury’s classic short stories. Find them in this playlist of audiobooks.
Next up for me (I guess) is Asimov or Lem. Back to the future!
As a young kid I loved science fiction and belong to a mail-order book club. Waiting every week for the small booklet to come and then reading the stories by flashlight at night after chores. It filled my mind with wonder about life, its possibilities - I need that to curse through my blood again. We all do.
Find what makes you sing and you’ll fly … Thank you Bradbury for revisiting my soul.
What authors of your youth should you revisit and reignite the flame of love of your past?
