It is spring. It is a time where the miracle of life is right before our eyes. I think it is time we move into reality more, in wonder ... not away from it - as we so much do.
Thanks for subscribing Deborah! I think it was Milosz in a Paris Review interview (if memory serves me correctly) that a writer only needs 3 readers. Two they can always find. The third, they are forever searching for. Easter would be a great topic to associate Milosz with - the more I think about it, the more it really was his soil, the idea of eternal, momentary rebirth inside us - despite the ravages and demands of the external. I'll jump over and read with my coffee and comment there. I do push myself to surprise myself and follow, read, find other work besides that which the big algorith in the sky blows are way. It's healthier. Cheers.
Love this! A wonderful Easter morning wake-up call. Also your poem, and tag-line "naked and alive". It reminded me of another line about "stepping barefoot into reality." From Wallace Stevens I believe. I'll have to check to be sure
But I also was delighted to see your references to Whitman and his "procreant urge." I quoted him and that line in my first substack post that went live last week. From what I've read here, I think you'd like like it. I'd be pleased to hear what you think. It seems we seem to like the same kinds of things. I subscribed here after reading your comment on Milosz's poem in another post. I posted two of his poems on my WP site this morning for Easter. Serendipity at work, it seems. Or that kind of cross-pollination I wrote about in my first substack post last week. Cheers, and happy Easter.
