Do you know the difference between a trip and an adventure? The unknown.
A trip is safe, secure. All planned. An adventure is all about the unexpected, even a little danger. And boy was today an adventure.
[sorry, this post will be short. Somehow my tablet n keyboard got wet. They are drying out. Let's see.]
The coffee room this morning was all abuzz with talk of tornados, flooding. High winds. The Weather channel again made it seem like the world was ending.
The first hour under dark skies I zoomed NE. But then slowly big drops. Then big thunder. sheets of rain. I kept pushing ahead, finally 30 miles out taking cover at the world’s largest candy store. I chatted up the fun gals there and waited for a break in the weather.
The rain came off n on and finally I hit Lebanon.
Jacket on and jacket off. Rain. Wind. A few moments the sun even poked out.
I hit Wayneville and the Trail of Tears monument in memory of the Chrrokee.
I hit the quirky fudge factory. Only in America
!Then Rocky was at home. Full on Ozarks. Long hills to climb. Beautiful rivers, quiet roads. Devils Elbow was incredible.
I went through Dolittle. Wondered why their Dollar General was so busy? Turns out their freezers were broke so all frozen goods were free! Including my burritos and Mac n cheese!
Finally 108 adventurous wet miles later I began the process of drying everything out. Tomorrow colder, .ore rain. But St. Louis beckons, 100 miles away. Check out my ride on Strava: https://strava.app.link/NgIZZksQfSb
Just found a broken spoke! Got to get that fixed tomorrow.
